           Responsible for writing, editing and publication of twice-yearly alumni magazine, electronic newsletters, recruitment view book and law school catalog. Prepared specialty publications and mailings as needed for special events, alumni relations and admissions department. Composed and distributed news releases. Revisor of Statutes Office, Kansas Legislature.

 

Attorney/Assistant Revisor of Statutes, November 2003 – present. 

 

Served as non-partisan professional staff to members of the Kansas Legislature in the areas of civil and criminal law, health law and policy, utilities, administrative regulations and information technology. Conducted legal research; drafted proposed legislation and statutory amendments; facilitated the legislative process by providing substantive and procedural legal advice to individual legislators, committees and chambers; and prepared balloon and floor amendments.


Research Assistant to Professor Richard E. Levy, May 2002 – March 2003.

 

            Conducted legal research to facilitate the Professor’s work on a book regarding the federal government’s authority to legislate under the Constitution.


Public Policy Clinic, fall semester, 2002. 

 

Prepared report on feasibility and propriety of establishment of a putative father registry by the Kansas Legislature; conducted research and wrote a 30+ page report identifying policy objectives, summarizing and evaluating policy options related to the structure of such a registry, and analyzing a proposed bill.


Media Law Clinic, spring semester, 2002. 

 

Prepared critique of a Kansas Attorney General opinion regarding an interpretation of the Kansas Open Records Act as related to the exchange of electronic mail between members of a public body. Conducted research and wrote report evaluating a proposed two-tiered shield law privilege for reporters under consideration by the Kansas Legislature.
